Web Updates

Normal Updates

Holdem 3D is currently in release 1.0.3. If your version of Holdem 3D is earlier, you're missing some good enhancements. The good news is that it will automatically update if your machine is web enabled. Just say "Yes" to the update dialog.

Release 1.0.3 adds these enhancements:

The animation of chip payouts (from the pot) has been improved. Payouts are now animated in counted stacks of chips, instead of travelling through the table one at a time. This looks better, and saves time.

A bug was found in the Java sound system, wherein certain sounds became clipped, or dropped out temporarily. Sun has no current work-around for this bug in the JVM, so our own sound system DLL is now used to play all sounds. Although basic, it is more reliable and efficient.

Holdem 3D now has the ability to select and use decks other than the standard deck. Several new decks have been added for a variety of looks.

A bug was found in the Settings screen, causing "Full screen" mode to change to another mode without warning. This has been fixed

A bug was found in table tilt when restarting the game. At times, the table would be at the wrong tilt for the new game. This has been fixed.

A bug was found that made Holdem 3D cause memory leaks when minimized for long periods. This has been fixed.

The animation of cards being reclaimed by the deck has been improved and sped up.

The lighting was a little low during chip payouts, making it difficult to see just what was going on. It has been changed to make payouts easier on the eye.

Release 1.0.2 added these enhancements:

The software has been made significantly more efficient, through an optimization process known as flattening the 3D
hierarchies. Without the boring details, this allows the device or software rendering the scenes to traverse them much faster. The result is faster repaints and better motion.

Other optimizations to animation code segments have yielded additional performance. With these optimizations, we were able to find errors in motion, and correct them. This translates to more realistic movement.

Flattening the hierarchies allowed us to also improve the way cards are dealt and collected. We added a nice rotation
to that animation. We also slightly tilt the hand now for better viewing when enlarged.

Betting large amounts took too long the way bet chips' motion was staggered. A much faster method of grouping the bets is now in place, and it visually conveys the amount of the bet better as well.

No option existed to start a new game after going bust or winning. This has been added.

A bug was found in analyzing the end of a hand, wherein a player could be considered still active even if he could not make the next big blind. This has been fixed.

Special note:

The earliest download of Holdem 3D (version 1.0.1) does not perform automatic web updates, as expected. The reason is that it does not create a temporary directory used by our web update. There are two possible workarounds for this:

1. You can make your existing Holdem 3D able to perform web updates by creating the temp directory. It should be created in the bin directory where Holdem 3D is installed. So if you accepted the default location when installing Holdem 3D, the temp directory to be created is:

C:\Program Files\Omaha Think Tank\Holdem 3D\bin\temp

or

2. You can uninstall Holdem 3D, download the latest Holdem 3D installer, and reinstall Holdem 3D.
